A very good way to reducing your water consumption is with the use of a grey water diversion pump.

Grey water is the term given to waste water from the laundry, shower or bath. This water can be diverted from going down the sewer and used for sub surface irrigation, whenever required and unlike rain water, it is available every day, when you are at home.
